Driver I Background and Responsibilities Candidate will among other things perform the following duties • Drive project vehicles within and outside Nigeria to convey AfricaRice staff, collaborator and visitors. • Liaise with Insurance Officer to ensure that vehicle documents (local and international) are valid and up to date. • Carry out routine vehicle maintenance checks and record trip details in the vehicle logbook. • Carry out vehicle cleaning and ensure adequate kitting (tools, medical box, and accessories) • Liaise with Workshop to ensure prompt servicing of vehicle as at when due. • Ensure courteous and prompt attention to passengers’ needs while being conveyed. • Ensure safety of vehicle and passengers property • Perform any other function as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualification and Experience WASC/Trade Test II with a valid professional drivers’ licence (Class ‘E’) plus at least five (5) years corporate driving. Research Associate Background and Responsibilities Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties: • Coordinate all seed production activities in the USIAD-funded Seed Scaling Project: • Carry out purification activities and varietal maintenance of improved/released rice varieties in Nigeria: • Multiply breeder and foundation seed of improved rice varieties for private sectors including private seed companies and universities; • Prepare and develop training and extension materials on seed production and handling for technicians, seed out growers and farmers; • Facilitate timely packaging, delivery and marketing of improved seeds to consortium of seed companies; • Undertake any other professional duties as needs arise within AfricaRice.
Qualification and Experience M.Sc. in Seed Technology/Plant Breeding, Agronomy and any related field with adequate experience in rice breeding and foundation seed production and demonstrated skills in seed purification and storage. Research Technician II Background and Responsibilities • Clean/sort planting materials for Laboratory, Screen house and field trials; • Involves in field layout, ensures timely planting and harvesting of experimental materials; • Involves in plant sampling for laboratory analysis; • Collect data on laboratory, screen house and field trials; • Enter data into computer from electronic field and other sources for analyses; • Involves in arranging training for farmers; • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of glass/screen house working environments; • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification and Experience The candidate must have an NCE/OND in Agriculture or related field with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar position. Senior Research Supervisor Background and Responsibilities • Assist in planting and establishment of laboratory, screen house and field trials and capture data; • Ensure timely planting, harvesting, and data collection; • Assist in post-harvest data management and analysis; • Supervise subordinate staff of the unit; • Maintain high level of research ethics; • Extensive travels especially during cropping season; • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of glass/screenhouse working environments; • Participate in any training program for visiting students and appraisal exercise for technicians; • Maintain liaison for relationship with collaborators; • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification and Experience The candidate must have an BSc /HND in Crop Production, General Agriculture or related field from a reputable University/ Polytechnic with at least 3 years’ experience in a similar position. Administrative/Finance Officer (IITA-HR-NRS2015-025)Position: Background and Responsibilities Successful candidate will among other things perform the following: ACCOUNTS • Monthly preparation of the cash position • Funding status control • Monthly bank reconciliations • Budget monitoring and analysis • Control of fixed assets • Office Insurance management (including vehicle) • Analysis of advance accounts, petty cash accounts, reimbursements, payments and any other accounts related with the operations of the office. • Control of tax recovery • Daily recording of transactions carried out by the office’s staff • Filing of accounting information duly supported by invoices or contracts • Perform any other duties that will be assigned. ADMINISTRATION • Maintenance of office décor • Make travel arrangements for staff • Arranging staff meetings, events, workshops and conferences in the country and providing logistic support • Handling of motor vehicle maintenance, service and supervising the drivers. • Ensuring availability of office stationery and sundry. • Keep inventory and manage maintenance of office equipment • Handle telephone calls/faxes, receive and assist visitors to the office • Organize and maintain filling system for the office • Implementation of CIP policies and procedures • Perform any other duties as may be assigned
Qualification and Experience • Education: Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or other related formal academic qualifications • Experience: At least 3 years relevant experience of which 2 years should be in a similar (Accounts/administrative) position, preferably in an International Organization or Foreign Mission.
